I'm at the British Library doing the AV for the Women Unlimited conference. It's been a fun day so far, and some of the speakers have been excellent.

Sadly, I didn't get to grab any sushi during lunch, as the foyer was absolutely packed out with aggressive entrepreneurial women who were fighting to get fed. I managed to grab a rather less exciting meal from the staff canteen before getting back onto the job.

The current speaker is Camila Batmangeligh, and I'm really enjoying listening to her. More later.

It's a cold morning here in Olde London Towne, the sun is coming up, the cars are covered in frost and I'm already on my way to work. Hi fucking Ho. Not to worry, I'll be loading up on some hot black coffee in less than an hour.

I had a very nice day yesterday. I got up early and went to see Wayne for the usual Saturday kung fu. We had some very old rum to keep the chills out, and had a good session before Ray arrived. A bit more rum was followed by a very enjoyable few hours of training, and then another of Denise's delicious lunches.

We headed home, and on the way called Jimmy Lockedgroove to see how he's recovering from his short stay in hospital. He seems to be in pretty good spirits, and of course is looking forward to getting beaten up at training again soon. I said I wouldn't punch him in the chest for a few weeks.

I chatted with my darling sister for an hour, then spent the rest of the evening hanging out with Maryam and Aadae, and again we had a lovely time. I surfed the interwebs for a new chainsaw - and got a very good deal on one - and a picture of a cobra for my Tuesday tattoo session with Xed.

In bed by ten. Everything is good in the world.

I rocked into my bank's local branch this morning, and I was spoiling for a row. I had prepared some of my most brutal put down lines, and was wearing my best underwear in preparation to perform Ling's 'pull down the pants and ask them if they want to fuck me up the arse' routine. That one always gets results, or so I'm told.

But I was disappointed. The girl on the counter bent over backwards to be helpful, and even arranged a balance transfer from my credit card to a zero percent deal for one year, saving me hundreds of pounds. I kept my jeans on, and left the branch with everything okay again.

So, Teesha from Suntanned Air, I salute you. If everyone at your bank's head office was like you, I'd be a very satisfied customer. Of course they're not, but I do feel a lot better and won't have to make a terrible scene at your branch. Everyone wins this time.

My bank are a complete bunch of bastards. I managed to put my debit card through the tumble dryer on the 15th of February, and it was only yesterday that they agreed to cancel the newly ordered card - which obviously isn't ever going to arrive - and order me another one, which will take seven to ten days to arrive.

So in the meantime I've been having to pay for everything using my credit card. Petrol, groceries, web hosting, the lot. But today it was declined in Tesco's as I was attempting to purchase nappies, bourbon, eggs, catfood, french bread and a bunch of flowers - I've obviously maxed it out. No problem, I'll just get the bank to transfer some money to my credit card from my current account.

Seems logical huh ? Noooooo. That shower of shit insist that I can only transfer money over the phone if I have my actual debit card handy for security. The one I'm going to have to wait seven to ten days for. I told the woman that I could read her something from my bank statement to answer a security question. "No." she said. "You could have stolen the statement." Well I could just have easily stolen the card, couldn't I ? Cloth-eared obstructive cunt. And get this - because the card has gone missing, my internet banking number has been cancelled with it ! FUCK !!!

So she says to me, in all seriousness, that every time I want to pay for anything, FOR AT LEAST A WEEK, I have to go and queue up in a branch with my passport and most recent bank statement, and get one of their helpful staff to do it manually. And I can't withdraw more than five hundred pounds at a time unless I get 'prior authorisation'.

IT'S MY FUCKING MONEY.

So the question is, fishnet, or American Tan ? I think American Tan, don't you ?

It doesn't make me sad that I work like a slave until the middle of the night, and then come home to an empty house night after night. Or that there's invariably a pile of dogshit there to greet me. Or that I wish more than anything that I could put a couple of things into a bag, fire up my bike and fuck off into the night with a roar that would wake the whole street. What makes me sad is the knowledge that I can NEVER do that again. The spike has been driven through my ear, and I am enslaved forever.

After much threatening, Ray and I finally mucked out the studio and have got it fit for work again. I have to say it felt very much like a homecoming, given the years we spent sitting in there tinkering with some fairly mysterious electronic musical instruments.

I never really saw myself as the kind of person who'd be covered in tattoos. I grew up in Newcastle, and many people up there were heavily tattooed, but they were hideous spot tattoos which looked like stickers on a suitcase, and they were the mark of a charver (chav) scumbag.

Anyway, when I met Xed and got my first one done, I really dug the man's artwork and indeed the man as a person. We've become friends over the years, and I'm very flattered that he's included some pictures of my left sleeve, still in progress, on the gallery of his website. I'm bottom left and bottom right, check out the Zappa portrait.
